Notice from Abolombon II project
We are pleased to inform you that D.Net is implementing a project 'Abolombon II' (duration: March 2007 to February 2010) with the financial support of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF). Under this project, D.Net is working closely with a number of local organisations for establishment of Pallitathya Kendra, a common access point for livelihood information for the rural community, with emphasis on women, handicapped and other minority people for accessing whole spectrum of livelihood information. Purposes of this project are:
  • Development of D.Net’s capacity as a hub of information and knowledge base, cost-effective and relevant technology solutions and capacity building of local social entrepreneurs, so that D.Net can support a large number of Pallitathya Kendras, established with full or joint local ownership;
  • Providing support to a number of organisations and groups for establishment and operation of Pallitathya Kendra, where support of recurring cost will be provided with a diminishing share of D.Net over a period of three years so that centers can operate on their own.
Pallitathya Kendra basically operates in the village level. People easily can access to their livelihood required information using ICTs (mobile phone, internet, computer based offline content etc.) from the Pallitathya Kendra with the help of Infomediary. They can save their livelihood cost, increase their family income and prevent losses through implementation of information and knowledge. Under this project, 13 organisations are already operating Pallitathya Kendra in different villages with the technical assistance of D.Net.

In 2008, D.Net will provide technical assistance (know-how sharing, capacity building, nurturing for 1 year, promotion and marketing, monitoring and evaluation etc.) to other 12 organisations for establishment and operation of Pallitathya Kendra. Organisation who is interested to establish Pallitathya Kendra jointly with Union Parishad (in Union Parishad premises) will get priority. Organisation who is dealing out caste population (Pallitathya Kendra will be established in the community) will get priority. D.Net is receiving application from different organisations regarding this.
