Information fair held at Khamar Peergacha, Gaibandha 

 

A day long information fair was organized by PBKS Pallitathya Kendra on November 30, 2008 in Khamar Peergacha village, Gaibandha under Abolombon II project. The fair was inaugurated by Mr. Abul Bais Mia, Additional District Commissioner, Gaibandha. Four booths were installed for the rural people with an aim to provide livelihood information and direct consultation facilities. Agriculture, health, law and educational experts were present in the booths to provide the consultation services. Around 300 rural people directly received information and services from the day long information fair. More than 1000 rural people received livelihood information through issue based cultural event. A debate was also organised among the students on the topic “Local information can play a significant role in eradication of Monga and unemployment situation”. ‘Rebeka Habib Girls High School’ was awarded as the winner and ‘Kashinath Boys High School’ was the runner up of the competition.

Mr. Md. Fazlur Rahman, Former Upazila Chairman, chaired the inaugural session; Dr. Ananya Raihan, Executive Director of D.Net was present as special guest, guest from different GOs and NGOs were also present in the programme. Ms. Monowara Talukder, Executive Director of PBKS hosted the programme. It is to be noted that information fair is a powerful tool for promotion and spreading out the PK activities as well as for building network with existing service providers in the rural community.
